REGISTRATION for FAVA Classes -16mm Film Class
and
the Doc Shop Classes � Part 2 & Part 3
We are now accepting registration for our fall classes.

Basics of 16mm Filmmaking Class
Running from September 13th 2006, until May 2007
Saturday classes, noon until 5pm
Learn the basics of filmmaking from theory to post production. Gain
essential skills in lighting, composition, linear editing, and sound. Each
participant creates their own 6 minute 16mm film which upon
completion is screened at the Metro Cinema.
$2600 + GST


Doc Shop Part 2 � Documentary Storytelling: Writing and Directing
September 13th � November 1st
Wednesday nights, 7.00pm � 9.30pm
In this workshop, participants explore the craft of documentary filmmaking
from the perspective of the writer and director. The goal will be to develop
a short documentary project on a subject that you�re passionate about,
involving people/subjects whom you have easy access to. The workshop
will include instruction on the cornerstones of storytelling, developing your
idea, and writing your proposal and shooting script, continuing with planning
and conducting your shoot, and shaping your paper edit. The workshop is
lead by screenwriting teacher and producer Geo Takach, and
producer-director-writer Lorna Thomas.
$500/non-member - $400/member

Doc Shop Part 3 � Documentary Editing
November 4th � December 9th
By appointment only
Part 3 of the Doc Shop is a brief mentorship in non-linear editing. Participants
will receive three hours of story editing tutorage with Geo Takach or
Lorna Thomas, then receive a ten hour mentorship in non-linear editing with
a senior FAVA member. This mentorship can be extended through agreement
between the participant and the mentor if need be.
$500/non-member - $400/member
