Good news for local filmmaker, Eva Colmers whose unique shortfilm, HAND SUM received The Zed Most Innovative Short Film Award, sponsored by CBC Television during the Reel2Real International Film Festival for Youth in Vancouver. The ten-day festival screened ten features and 32 short films from 16 different countries. HAND SUM is also nominated for a "Rosie" Award at the upcoming Alberta Film & Television Award on April 29th. For those Edmontonians who have not yet had a chance to see this intriguing shadow film or who would like to see it again, HAND SUM will be featured at Metro Cinema on Sunday, April 30 at 1pm during the Reel Femme Film Festival (April 28-30). ********** What

Hot Docs, North America's largest documentary festival and market, will present its 13th annual edition from April 28 to May 7, 2006. An outstanding selection of 100+ documentaries from Canada and around the world will be presented to Toronto audiences and more than 1700 international delegates from over 25 countries. This year�s festival includes an intimate onstage discussion with 2006 Outstanding Achievement Award recipient Werner Herzog, as well as national spotlights on Japan and France. Hot Docs will once again mount an intensified full roster of professional development and market events for documentary practitioners, including the renowned Toronto Documentary Forum running May 3 & 4, 2006 (separate accreditation required, register by March 16, 2021 for Observer Seats).
