CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS
DEADLINE: October 22nd, 2015
The Herland Video Production Workshop gives 8 emerging women filmmakers the opportunity
to pursue their creative vision, and tell a personal story with a short film. Over several months,
participants will develop their skills and expertise by immersing themselves into every aspect of
the filmmaking process. Established industry mentors will guide participants through story
development, screenwriting, camera operation, lighting, directing, editing and proposal writing,
in order to complete a 3-5 minute film, which will be screened to a public audience in March
2016.
All workshops are held on weekends during November 2015 at The Calgary Society of
Independent Filmmakers. Shooting will be between December and January, and the final project
will be complete by March 15th, 2016.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Applicants are asked to submit:
• A one-page concept for a 3-5 minute video that is based on a personal story.
• A statement detailing how the workshop will aid in their artistic growth.
• A CV or resume.
• Must be 19 years old or older.
• Participants are required to attend all the workshops.
